Jui-Tsz Shiu is a visual artist who interprets her understanding, memory and corporeality of places through works. To recall perceptual experience and fantasy, Shiu combines installation, video and sculpture to create fictional or actual action as an approach; meanwhile observes a flow and a projection of the notion of place between cognition and reality. Her recent works explore new immigrants' mental process of crossing places by taking spatial matters as metaphoric and symbolic of spirituality. Jui-Tsz Shiu was born in 1995 in Tainan, Taiwan. Shiu received her BFA from Taipei National University of the Arts (Taipei) in 2018, and a MFA from Frank Mohr Institute (Groningen) in 2021. Currently lives and works in Groningen, the Netherlands.
